the hub, South Taranaki District Council's bold vision for a multi-events centre at Hicks Park in Hawera, is becoming a reality.
Work has commenced (early 2008) to replace the present de-centralised sporting facilities with a $22.7 million complex that the whole district can be proud of.

The Council has agreed to contribute up to $14.87 million, which will be loan funded with payments made from the interest on its Long Term Investment Fund. The Fund will continue to provide an annual rates subsidy and the principal sum will not be affected but will continue to earn interest and grow.
