Show your support for the hub today!
Fundraising activities will be planned throughout the development of the hub.
South Taranaki District Council will contribute $14.87 million towards the hub, leaving a shortfall of around $8 million to complete all stages of the $22.7 million project.
That money will be raised externally with trusts and other funding agencies likely to come up with the lion's share. Applications are being made to bodies like the TSB Community Trust, a number of gaming machine trusts, the Ministry of Education will be asked to contribute in recognition of the importance of the hub to Hawera High School, and sports and community groups that will benefit are ready to get behind the project.
Businesses and Corporates who have a stake in the district are being asked to assist, and community-based fundraising projects will give individuals the chance to contribute.
Community fundraising kicked off with a successful concert/dance on April 13 2007 which raised $5000 and the following week, Hawera United Cricket Club donated $10,000 and challenged other sporting groups to do the same or better. Find out more about fundraising events.
The New Zealand Community Trust has made a sizeable donation and pledges have been made from local businesses such as Harris & Taylor along with Shell Todd Oil Services and the Lottery Community Facilities Fund. To date, our fundraising tally from donations and pledges comes to approximately $800,000.
